Most of us are living lives chosen by everyoneexcept ourselves.

The degree that was expected. The stable career. The promotion that made everyone proud. Then one day the map runs out, and the question underneath every decision — the job, the move, the next chapter — turns out to be the same one: is this actually what I want, or just what I've been taught to want?

That's the work I do. The strategy that gets you to a better-fit opportunity, and the self-trust that lets you actually choose it.

In Between

The invisible patterns that stand between you and yourself — perfectionism, people-pleasing, sunk-cost identity. Currently in progress.

About the Book

The core belief

The work that gets you the opportunity happens before the application.

More applications don't compensate for weak positioning. Clarity, positioning, and relationships come first — then the application becomes easier.

From the book

In Between

I'm writing a book about the season nobody warns you about: the space between who you have been and who you are becoming. In Between blends my story — nurse, healthcare leader, Filipino-American daughter of a family of nurses — with the framework at the heart of my coaching: the Emotional Silent Killers.

As a nurse, I learned that silent killers do gradual, symptomless damage long before anyone notices. We carry emotional versions of the same thing. They look responsible, they get rewarded at work, and they run your decisions from underneath.

The Emotional Silent Killers

01

Fear dressed as logic. The research was finished months ago; the case for waiting keeps growing anyway.

02

Perfectionism dressed as high standards. "I need to meet every qualification first" said about work you already know how to do.

03

Sunk-cost identity. Leaving feels like admitting the last twelve years were a mistake. They weren't — and staying stuck won't honor them.

You can't change a pattern you can't see. Seeing it is the first half of the work — in the book, and in every career I help reinvent.

Hi, I'm Charlene

My greatest transformation wasn't becoming more successful. It was learning to trust myself.

On paper, I had it figured out: registered nurse, family nurse practitioner, director-level healthcare leader, Johnson & Johnson Nurse Innovation Fellow, podcast host, co-founder of a wellness company devoted to nurse well-being. In reality, I ran every decision through a committee of other people, because I couldn't quite believe my own read.

And I've never mass-applied my way into a role. Every leap in my career came from positioning, relationships, and finally trusting my own read — the exact things I now teach. That's the intersection I work at: career strategy, a decade of leadership, and the inner work that lets you act on both.

Wondering…

Is this therapy?

No. It's career strategy and reflective coaching focused on patterns, decisions, and self-trust. If something needs clinical care, I'll say so plainly and help you find it.

Where does the tarot fit in?

At the card table — pop-ups, events, and limited private readings — as reflection, never prediction. The career work is strategy first; the intuitive work sharpens the decisions underneath it.

What if I'm not sure any of this is for me?

Reach out through the contact page and tell me what you're navigating. If I'm not the right support, I'll say so and point you somewhere better.
